「雨のち晴れ」や「晴れのち曇り」って英語でどういうんだっけ？
そんな風に思ったことはありませんか？
私も天気予報や天候に関する英語表現が気になり始めたのは、つい最近のこと。
ですので、「雨のち晴れ」や「晴れのち曇り」を英語で表現するにはどう言えば良いのか？良く知りませんでした。
そこで私なりに、あちこち調べて似たような表現を集めてみました。
晴れのち曇り
「～のち曇り」は「～then cloudy」「～followed by clouds」「and cloudy later」などを使ったりします。
＜例文＞
It’ll be sunny then cloudy tomorrow.
The weather will be clear skies followed by clouds tomorrow.
We’ll see sun in the morning, followed by clouds in the afternoon.
It’ll be clear and cloudy later tomorrow.
＜例＞「晴れのち曇り」
sunny then cloudy
Fair, later cloudy.
Fine, cloudy later.
晴れのち雨
「～のち雨」は「～then rainy」「～followed by rain」「and rainy later」「sunny to rain」などを使ったりします。
＜例文＞
It was sunny then rainy today.
The weather will be sunny followed by rain tomorrow.
It was going to sunny and rainy later in the day.
Rainy Saturday turns sunny to rain.
